Wagons
for Warriors was a dream, a wish, and then a mission. I am a "Vietnam-era
Navy veteran", and worked for the Department of Defense for 32 years. My
wife worked for the Department of Defense for 35 years. We both have a fierce
allegiance to our country and our Military. We have seen our friends, our comrades,
our defenders of freedom deploy and make sacrifices our whole lives. My first
chance to help work with the "Wounded Warriors" came when Mitch (a
Vietnam Veteran himself) and I were asked to go to San Antonio Texas, to help
feed the Wounded Warriors at Fort Sam Houston, the U. S. Army Medical Command.
What a humbling experience. We can never do enough to support or pay back the
debt I feel we owe to our Military personnel.
Mitch, Jeff, and myself decided to have our own fund raiser for the Wounded
Warriors. We asked our friends from Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana, Kansas, and Missouri to
help us put on a Chuckwagon feed to raise money for the Wounded Warriors, and
Wagons For Warriors was born. The response we got was overwhelming. Our mission
is simple, raise as much money as we can for the Wounded Warrior fund. I would
like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, wagons, and Friend of the Fort for
your help and support. This could never be done without a team effort and the
help of everyone involved. If you would like to be a Sponsor, or volunteer to
help with Wagons for Warriors, you can e-mail me at

This year our event will be even bigger than before It will be our 7th year providing food music and good old cowboy fun. There will be live music again throughout the event. We will have even more wagons than before, with even more food. Last year over $30,000 was raised to benefit warriors in need. This year we hope to raise over $35,000 . The food will be absolutely cowboy wonderful as usual.
The music will help ring in the cowboy spirit. Cowboy church services will be at 9:30 Sunday morning, The entire service will be cowboy, and down home, keeping with the Christian tradition.
Last year the 6th Annual Wagons for Warriors event was even bigger and better than the year before. The crowd exceeded expectations. This year is going to be an event to remember. We hope to see you there for the parade on Friday the 26th at 1:00pm and on Saturday the 27th for food friendship and fun.
